Today we go to Pompeii, the wealthy town that was buried in 79 AD by a massive eruption of Mount Vesuvius. At the time of the eruption the town had a population of 25,000 people but it was completely engulfed in two days by this natural disaster. The city was first excavated in the 18th century and today is the finest monument and most complete record of everyday life in the Roman Empire. Our guide will bring to life the day to day affairs of the town as you walk the ancient streets. There will be time to stop for lunch. We return to Sorrento early afternoon where there is the opportunity to explore the town famous for its many beautiful gardens and fine shopping. Alternatively, you can relax before evening dinner.

Today we journey on one of the world’s most beautiful routes, the Amalfi Coast.
